Can Food Brands Still Claim “100% Juice” on Labels? FSSAI Issues New Rules

FSSAI has directed food brands to immediately stop using “100% fruit juice” claims on labels and advertisements for reconstituted fruit juices. This move aims to ensure that customers are not misled by inaccurate marketing practices.

According to FSSAI’s statement, “Manu Indian Brands have been promoting reconstituted juices as “100% fruit juice,” which is misleading. Reconstituted juices are made by mixing water with concentrated fruit juice, and they do not qualify as pure juice”

To comply with the new guidelines, Juices brands have been told to remove “100% pure juice” from all marketing material and packaging until September 1, 2024.

This step by FSSAI ensures transparency for Indian customers and make informed choices about packaged juices.
